Sie ermöglicht es dem Augsburger Publikum, sich mit dem Musikschaffen von Regionen vertraut machen, die, aufbauend auf der Musiktradition Europas, ihre ganz eigene musikalische Handschrift entwickelt haben.


Oberbürgermeister Dr. Kurt Gribl hat die Schirmherrschaft über die Konzertreihe übernommen.
Das Konzert am 09. April 2010 ist dem Thema „Australien“ gewidmet. Auf dem Fünften Kontinent wird Europäische Musik in allen stilistischen Arten gepflegt. Dabei hat die neue Musik, die in Australien entstanden ist, durchaus Selbstbewusstsein entwickelt und entfaltet heute ein kreatives Eigenleben.

Die renommierten Künstler Prof. Peter Handsworth (Klarinette) und Prof. Stefan Ammer (Klavier) sind in beiden Welten zu Hause. Sie werden am Tag vorher beim Bayerischen Rundfunk in München die australischen Werke dieses Konzertprogramms für Hörfunksendungen aufnehmen. Die Moderation des Abends wird Michaela Fridrich vom Bayerischen Rundfunk übernehmen.
